Calories (Kilocalories)
Are units of energy. In nutrition, calories describe how much energy the body gets through eating and drinking.

Carbohydrates are found in the following foods:

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Grains, pasta, bread, rice and potatoes
  • Beans and lentils
  • Milk and dairy products
  • Foods containing added sugar

About 45-65 percent of calories in a daily diet should come from carbohydrates.
