How to Measure

When measuring weight, never leave a child unattended on a scale

To measure an infant’s weight using an infant scale

  1. Lay or secure the scale on a flat, sturdy surface and make sure the scale reads “zero”
  2. Remove the child’s shoes, clothing and diaper, especially if wet
  3. Lay or sit the child in the pan or weighing pants
  4. Without touching the child, read and record the weight to the nearest 0.1 kilograms
