How to Measure

To weigh an child using a mechanical standing scale

  1. Place the scale on a flat surface; make sure the scale reads “zero”
  2. Remove the child’s shoes, clothing and diaper
  3. Weigh an adult; record the weight to the nearest 0.1 kilograms
  4. Weigh the adult while holding the child; record the weight to the nearest 0.1 kilograms
  5. Subtract the weight of the adult alone from the weight of the adult holding the child; this is the child’s weight
